It appears Mom could be in her last days. We are so thankful that she is not experiencing pain and that she is at peace. God has faithfully led her for all of her life and in His time He will lead her home. When asked about her heaven by a nurse, Mom said” I will be with my God.” More than anything that is what she longs for. This is our prayer for her.
“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” Psalm 17:15

Hi everyone.  Mom has been declining over the last number of days.  She has been sleeping a lot and eating little.  Please pray that Mom will have continued peace and rest in her mind and that God will take her gently home in His time.  Please also pray for us as we watch her decline, that God will continue to give us strength for each day and that we will rest fully in him.  Thank you.  💕

Hi everyone.  Mom has weakened considerably and sleeps often but does eat pretty good everyday.  She especially enjoys her toast and marmalade in the mornings!  The doctor increased her pain meds and thankfully her pain is under control. We are comforted with the peace she has even in the midst of her weakness.  We are so thankful for the wonderful  care that Mom has received here at Hospice.  It is such a blessing that she was able to come here! Thank you for your continued prayer and love!

Hello everyone.   It has been a while since we did an update so we thought we would let you know how Mom has been doing lately.  She has become weaker in the last number of weeks and often in the mornings she suffers from bad headaches.   Thankfully, they can be managed with her pain medication.  Today the doctor increased her pain med dosage to help her remain comfortable.  She is also back on a higher dose of steroid.  The doctor is treating her as if she has a brain tumor because she has the symptoms of one and it could explain the headaches.
She has now been in hospice for 2 weeks and seems to be settled in there.  We are so thankful for the wonderful care that she is receiving.  On Sunday, we were able to enjoy a Mothers day barbecue and she was able to sit outside and visit with us and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Today we took her out for breakfast and she was even able to enjoy a short time of discussing a devotion, singing  and prayer with a group of family and friends. We are so thankful for the time that we can spend with her.  Please pray that she will not suffer and that her pain will be managed.  Please also pray that she will continue to have peace.   Once again, we are so thankful for the wonderful support that we have been given.  We are so blessed and thankful for the many ways in which you all have been there for us, whether through prayers, meals, cards, house cleaning and hugs.   From all of us...THANK YOU. ❤

Wednesday 9 May 2018

Hi everyone.   Mom had a much better day today compared to yesterday.  We are so thankful for that.  She did have a headache this morning, but the doctor raised her pain med this morning, which took care of the pain.  She was even able to go for an hour long car ride and have a small ice cream cone from the "big Avondale". 😁  She had a sleep this afternoon and then we walked to the Tim Horton's down the road to meet Dad and Brandon for coffee.  She has to rest often, but is able to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather and have visitors.  Please pray that her pain will continue to be managed and that she will continue to have peace.

 Overall,  mom has had wonderful days at hospice with so many blessings we are thankful for! Usually her day starts with her favorite visitor, dad, who cares for her so lovingly!  She has been able to have some visitors, though that needs to be paced as she tires easily and still periodically gets pain behind her eyes! The nurses are incredible with mom and us and have made this burden lighter as we see how much they care for her! Mom has been immensely enjoying being outside, soaking in the sun and listening to the birds, and we can take her right out there in her bed or wheelchair,  which is so nice for her! We share so many special times in these days with mom and cannot express how thankful we are to have this blessing which we didn't think we'd have!  Thank you, thank you for all the many ways you've supported and loved us through this.  We and mom know you are the hands and feet of Christ and we thank God continually for you all!
